Instructional System Design

Hi, Assalamualaikum!

In today's episode with me, I am going to share with you a new knowledge, which is, Instructional System Design (ISD). This is one of the essential topic to learn because it is related closely with CALL. You remember CALL, right? The one I have covered before, basically, ISD is the development of curriculum materials, sets, or lessons.

The process of ISD consisting of:-

    • assessing the needs of the learners,
    • identifying the end goals and objectives of instruction,
    • developing and organizing evaluation exercises,
    • designing teaching and learning experiences.
And the most common used model in ISD is ADDIE model and there are 5 phases in the ADDIE model has an outcome that feeds into the next. It is consequence with the other.

1. Analysis
  • The instructional issue is explained during the analysis phase, as are the instructional priorities and expectations, as well as the learning environment and the learner's own experience and skills.
2. Design
  • Learning goals, evaluation instruments, tests, material, subject matter analysis, curriculum preparation, and media collection are all design phase. The planning stage should be methodical and precise. A rational, orderly process of defining, developing, and assessing a series of proposed objectives aimed at achieving the project's goals is referred to as systematic. Unique means that each aspect of the instructional design plan must be carried out meticulously.
3. Development
  • The developers build and organize the content properties that were created in the design process during the development phase. Programmers are responsible for developing and/or integrating new technologies. Debugging procedures are carried out by testers. Subject to any suggestions received, the project is reviewed and updated.
4. Implementation
  • A protocol for preparing the facilitators and learners is established during the implementation phase. The course material, learning results, execution process, and assessment methods should all be included in the facilitators' preparation. Training on new technologies (software or hardware) and student enrollment are both part of the learners' preparation.
5. Evaluation
  • There are two phases of the evaluation phase: formative and summative. Each stage of the ADDIE process involves formative assessment. Summative assessment consists of evaluations that are optimized for domain-specific criterion-related referenced objects that enable users to provide input.
Now, now, take a deep breath and close your eyes. I guess it is enough reading for today. Let's take a break and see you later! Toodles!

XOXO
